Burglary is recognised as the most common offence, accounting for approximately 35% of incidents. Businesses that hold large amounts of money on location, have few employees, trade late at night, deal face-to-face with customers and stock small, high-value items are considered to be most at risk.
The Queensland Police Department list a series of steps that can help:
1. Install solid, external doors fitted with quality locks.
2. Reinforce glass in doors/windows with shatter resistant or laminated glass.
3. Protect windows with security screens and window locks.
